Guidelines for Monitoring of Structures in the Offshore Wind Industry
Abstract
The Offshore Wind Industry is young and dynamic. Little experience on the performance of structures is available. Other than the Offshore Oil and Gas Structures wind generation produces considerable horizontal forces and dynamic actions. It is desirable to learn about real performance cases for future design optimization and save operations. More than 2000 structures have been erected in the German North Sea over the past years. An ambitious monitoring program has been started. In order to guide these a technical committee has been formed to issue a relevant standard. This is the first one worldwide. Information on the draft guideline is provided
