Delamination Detection of Composites Based on a Bivariate Gamma Function Approach
Abstract
This study performs an inverse detection of stiffness degradation occurred by the delamination in laminated composite plates under impact loading. Five unknown parameters are considered to determine the delamination region, which is a modified form of the bivariate Gamma distribution function. The validity of the technique is numerically verified using a set of acceleration data obtained from a finite element simulation of laminated composites. The numerical examples show that the proposed technique is a feasible and practical method which can prove the location of a delamination region as well as inspect the distribution of deteriorated stiffness of composites.
