Longitudinal Additional Force Testing Method For Continuous Welded Rail With Hetero-Cladding FBG Strain Sensor



A new method has been proposed to accurately determine longitudinal additional force in continuous welded rail (CWR) by two Fiber Bragg Grating sensors with a little difference center wavelength but hetero-cladding diameters. As shown in the test results, the linearity between relative wavelength difference and longitudinal additional force is greater than 0.9999. Moreover, the relative wavelength difference is not affected by the temperature changing with the hetero-cladding FBG. Compared to theoretical results, the accumulated error is controlled within 2.2ï¼… in harsh environment.
