Three-dimensional Crack Propagation Simulation Experiment Comparison and Life Prediction Based on Paris Formula
Abstract
Based on the theory of linear elastic fracture mechanics, A three-dimensional crack propagation simulation model of a standard compact tensile specimen was established. The crack front stress intensity factor was calculated. The crack front stress intensity factor was calculated and the relationship between it and crack length was calculated. The critical crack length was determined. The initial crack was automatically expanded and the crack propagation path was obtained. Based on the Paris formula, the fatigue crack growth model of the test is determined and the crack propagation life prediction of the sample is completed. Finally, by comparison with the test results, it is proved that the crack propagation life prediction based on this method is reasonable and effective.
