IGBT Device Lifetime Prediction Technology of Rail Transit Based on MATLAB and PLECS

Abstract

Lifetime prediction of IGBT device has been a hot topic between device manufacturers and users. A new method of lifetime prediction is proposed based on MATLAB and PLECS. Electro-thermal modules of IGBT and control circuit of system are built. Power loss, junction temperature and case temperature can be extracted. The temperature swings can be counted by rain flow algorithm, and then lifetime prediction of IGBT device can be completed with lifetime model. The proposed method has the feature of good applicability, which is suited for lifetime prediction of IGBT in different converter without knowing real-time data.
