The Regulation of Maintenance Period Based on Damage-tolerance Theory
Abstract
The concept of damage-tolerance has been widely used in the design and maintenance of aircraft; however, for existing railway vehicle structural parts, the establishment of the maintenance plan period is often based on experience. Scientific and reasonable maintenance cycle can not only guarantee the safety of train operation, but also can save the manpower and material resources due to too frequent maintenance. Based on bolster as an example, this paper introduce how the damagetolerance based theory implemented to establish maintenance regulation in the application, in terms of the nondestructive testing, structural failure judgment simulation based on Paris formula. Through the damage-tolerance method, it is very important to realize the health management of the structural parts of the railway vehicles, and furthermore to realize the whole life cycle health management of the train.
