FORMING CHARACTERISTICS AND DISPERSION PATTERN OF NON-AXISYMMETRIC MEFP WITH Ta-2.5W Liner
Abstract
For the purpose of directional damage effects, two MEFP warhead schemes with non-axisymmetric charge structure were designed. The liners were made of Ta-2.5W alloy, and multi-points initiation method was adopted. By LS-DYNA hydrocode, the forming characteristics of directional MEFP was studied and the dispersion pattern of EFPs was obtained. With bigger dispersion angles both in the vertical and horizontal directions, one of the design schemes was chosen to test in experiment. The dispersion pattern obtained in experiment of the MEFP was consistent with the numerical simulation results, which validated the rationality of the design scheme and the numerical model. The MEFP with non-axisymmetric charge structure could be used for the directional damage purpose with higher penetration ability when compared fragment warhead.
