Abstract

The main task of presented hereby work was to verify thesis about better accuracy of bull-pup rifle comparing to classical layout. The jump angle was assumed as a crucial factor influencing accuracy. Such comparison was possible due to the fact, that both rifles used in tests belonged to the same weapon family – Modular Small Arm System. Physical and mathematical models of gas operated small arm jump were developed and used for numerical simulations. Calculated results of jump angle were compared to ones obtained with laboratory stand. Finally, shooting range tests were conducted including precision and dynamic firings. To determine the real jump angle value high speed camera was used. The tests were realized as part of a research and development project No O ROB 0034 03 001 financed by the National Research and Development Centre.
