Laminates with Overlacing Made by Automated Fiber Placement
Abstract
This paper presents a concept to make laminates with overlacing aspects similar to those of woven laminates, using AFP. The procedures to make cross-ply plain weave, triaxial and quasi-isotropic laminates are presented. Mechanical tests were conducted based on ASTM standards on these special quasi-isotropic laminates and on unidirectional layer laminates. The results show some improvement in mechanical properties of new laminates.
