Composite Laminates Made by Automated Fiber Placement of Dry Fibers and Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding

Abstract

This research project focuses on the study of laminates made by dry fiber preforms using Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM). Aspects of AFP processing unique to dry fiber processing using Hot Gas Torch (HGT), VARTM infusion, and material characterization are covered.
