Abstract

The research reported in this paper is focused on the application of FRP (fibrereinforced polymers) for the equipment of railway bridges. After investigation of the FRP manufacturer possibilities, several systems were proposed to be applied on railway bridges. As the FRP is a fire sensitive material, systems mounted on a test bridge were exposed to in-situ fire tests in order to verify human safety and possible environmental impact. Based on results of the fire test, FRP solutions for floor on sleepers, floor on consoles and railing were proposed for railway bridge reconstructions.
