Delamination Detection Using Electrical Resistance Change Method and its Reliability
Abstract
Delamination detection on carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites was investigated by application of the electrical resistance change method. Experimental data are compared to those obtained during delamination growth on carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites. Numerical study using the finite element method was also performed in order to investigate the influence of the change of the temperature, and nominal resistivity and of the distance of the electrical contacts on the relationship between the delamination length and the measured electrical resistance. Good agreement was found between the experimental results and the numerical investigations.
