Analysis of Pathological Tremor Behavior: Application to Design a Passive Tremor Attenuator
Abstract
A total of 144 measurements of the left-hand finger-posture is processed for 3 neurodegenerative disordered patients. The current work concentrates on analyzing the changes in the tremor behavior within the same patient for different hand postural positions repeated for 3 days. The measured datasets represent the 3-directional accelerometer’s signals in addition to the electromyographic (EMG) measurements of the wrist antagonist muscles. The study shows the effect of the muscles behavior on the shape of the tremor movement, the identification of the muscles signals damping ratios, and provides a statistical analysis of the frequency and amplitude of the dominant peak. The obtained measurements serve in providing information useful in the specification of the undesired frequencies for a patient and the design of a tremor suppression device.
