Progress in Structural Health Monitoring Technology and System for the Large Crane in China
Abstract
In recent years, the crane moves toward large-scale of structure and diversification of functions. The operating frequency of the large crane is rose, and the phenomenon about overload operation of the large crane is increased. The number of large crane accidents is also shown ascending trend. In order to ensure safety and reliability of the large crane running, a series of achievements about structural health monitoring technology for the large crane were carried out by Structural health monitoring team of China special equipment inspection and research institute in recent years. And a series of achievements with high project application value are acquired. The research achievements about the health monitoring technology based on fiber optical sensor, the local damage monitoring technology based on fiber optic acoustic emission sensor, the structural health monitoring technology based on wireless strain sensor and the project application are introduced briefly in this paper. The structural health monitoring technology for the large crane can not only realize real-time monitoring to the structural strain and the damage status, but also can get the failure precursor about the crane structure. It can prevent sudden disaster, and avoid heavy casualties and property losses.
