Experimental Studies of Structure Inspection and Damage Detection Based on Elastic Waves Energy Distribution2245

Abstract


The paper presents an experimental study related to the inspection of an internal structure and damage detection in a tailplane of a helicopter. For this purpose guided elastic waves, excited by piezoelectric actuators, are used. Full field wave propagation measurements are carried out using Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer (SLDV). Presented approach is based on determining energy distribution of propagating waves. Created maps allow to investigate internal structure and localize the presumable damage.
