Automatic Wireless Transfer of Acquired Usage Monitoring Data
Abstract
There is significant industry interest in automated wireless ‘push’ of acquired flight data to a centralized database as it has value in a number of different applications, from flight safety monitoring (e.g. FOQA) applications to usage monitoring for Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). This paper looks at the requirements for transferring acquired flight data via a wireless link to the internet and on to a server housing a centralized database. The candidate technologies for this wireless transfer are then evaluated against these requirements with a view to identifying an optimum solution for realizing the automated wireless upload.
