Comparison of Damage Localization Based on Modal Filters Using Strain Measurements and Acceleration Measurements
Abstract
This paper deals with the comparison of two techniques recently developed for non-model based automated damage localization using vibration measurements. The two techniques are based on modal filtering methods but differ in the sensing technologies used, i.e., acceleration or strain sensors. The advantages and drawbacks of the two techniques are illustrated with simulated data of a simply supported beam.
