Development of Simplified Analytical Tools for Impact and Impulsive Loading Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Slabs
Abstract
This paper presents a simplified method to analyze reinforced concrete structures subjected to missile impacts. The method, a nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) procedure employing a smeared rotating crack macro-modeling approach, represents a middle ground between simplified methods based on single degree of freedom (SDOF) systems and complex meso- or micro-element hydrocodes. A soft missile impact test and a hard missile impact test from IRIS_2010 workshop were modeled and the results were compared with experimental results in terms of time-displacement response, damage shape, and residual velocity
