Verification of Snow Model for Particle Simulation for Train Safety

YU TAO, SEIICHI KOSHIZUKA

Abstract

In this research, a new snow model for train’s safe driving made by the particle method is proposed. Snow is assumed as a Bingham fluid. Verification of this special non-Newtonian fluid is done, as well as a good agreement is obtained by comparing the MPS (Moving Particle Semi-implicit) numerical result with referential result. Furthermore, a collision model between train and snow is built; Bingham snow model is compared with Newtonian snow model as well. A reasonable impact phenomenon occurs by introducing the present Bingham snow model.
