A Four Step Method for Railway Operators to Implement Condition Based Maintenance Effectively
Abstract
With the lately evolution in sensor technics combined with the available fast processing of big data, condition based maintenance comes technically to realization. However, railway undertaken are struggling in implementation. It is not always obvious which parameters are useful to be observed in order to perform a fast and easy realization and still maintain a positive business case. In addition, current maintenance manuals of vehicles, actual homologation processes, hence legal terms from authorities and the trend to separate wayside and trackside responsibilities do not support this development. Therefore, decision factors, strategies and categories are shown out of a holistic railway system approach.
