Application of Fault Diagnosis in Model Selection of Coupler for the Light Rail Vehicle in Hong Kong

Abstract


A number of fracture failure of the light rail vehicles folding coupler hooks occurred during service in Hong Kong. And the leakage of the main reservoir pipe air connection is more than the requirement. It has threatened the operation of the Mass Transit Railway. The modifications of the hook and air connection were proposed in the new vehicles design. By macroscopic analysis of the fracture surface and the test of the leakage, the modifications were adopted. The coupler functions and performance after the optimization was achieved as design according to the requirement of Particular Specification.
