Vibration and Temperature Monitoring of Rolling Element Bearings in High Speed Trains

Abstract


Rolling element bearings have been widely used in various mechanical facilities. It will cause great loss when bearing failure occurs. Many methods have been used to monitor the working status of bearings. A vibration and temperature monitoring system has been introduced to help monitoring the rolling element bearings in high speed trains. The characteristics of bearings failure have been analyzed and extracted in vibration and temperature signals. The bench test has proved the effectiveness of the monitoring method for gearbox bearings in high speed trains.
