Numerical Simulation of the Impact Response on Concrete Target under Penetration
Abstract
By using the FEM code LS-DYNA, the penetration of concrete target by a rigid projectile was simulated. Three material models in LS-DYNA (MAT 72R3, 111 and 159) were used to model the impact response of concrete material respectively. The deformation region and failure zone in the concrete target, and the residual velocity of the projectile for different constitutive models was discussed and compared. The simulation results showed that the concrete model of MAT 72R3 was harder than the other two models and the residual velocity of projectile for three concrete models were almost approximate.
