In-Situ Measurement of Local Zones’ Stress-strain Curves in Welded Joint by using Instrumented Double Holes Micro-shear Test
Abstract
A in-situ test instrumentation, that related to the double holes micro-shear test approach, was presented to determine local zones’ stress-strain curves for the heterogeneous welded joint. The instrument is fixed by double holes drilled in material to be tested. The measured material bridge between the double holes is loaded by an indenter, until it is broken. According to measured load-displacement curve, the stress-strain curves of the material could be obtained. The accuracy of this technique was validated by using aluminium alloy. The plastic deformation properties of local zones in aluminum alloy welded joints were evaluated.
