A Constitutive Model for Coupled Transformation and Plastic Behavior of Shape Memory Alloys
Abstract
A constitutive model is developed for shape memory alloys. It is based on the concept that an SMA is composed of austenite and martensite, and its constitutive behavior is the combination of the individual behavior of each of its two phases. The deformation of the martensite phase is separated into thermal, transformation, elastic and plastic parts, and that in the austenite phase is separated into thermal, elastic and plastic parts. The main features of SMAs such as shape memory effect, pseudoelasticity and other typical features can be well replicated with the model.
