Ultimate Bearing Capacity of RC Beams Reinforced by Prestressed AFRP Sheet under 4-point Bending

Q.D. ZENG, W. JING, Y.L. ZHOU

Abstract

The computation results of a layered shear-lag model on the stress redistributions of prestressed AFR sheet-reinforced RC beams with a crack under 4-point bending and the stress distributions of each sub-layer were adopted. On the basis of this, an existing modified shear-lag model was developed and used to further study the stress concentrations induced by aramid bundle fractures in sheet; and then the statistical strength and ultimate bearing capacity of beams strengthened with prestressed AFRP sheet under 4-point bending were obtained by using a micro-statistical failure theory. The results obtained relatively coincide with the existing test values.
