Abstract

As one of typical ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, NiMnGa alloy at room temperature is a heterogeneous material with martensitic variants and high magnetic anisotropy property. By taking the influence of the material anisotropy on the martensite variants reorientation into account, a modified micromechanical model, which follows the Eshelby equivalent inclusion method and the Mori-Tanaka scheme, is proposed to investigate the effect of morphology of the martensite variant inclusion on magneto-mechanical behaviors of the FSMA during martensite variants reorientation process. The simulation results show a good agreement with the experimental data.
