Application of Granite in Asphalt-Treated Base

S.P. WU, X.L. LI, J. XIE

Abstract

Granite Asphalt-Treated base not only solve the lacking of the high quality aggregate, but also improve the stress distribution in the highway structure and extend the service life. In this study, the effects of different modifiers (hydrate lime, active mineral powder, and cement) on the reforming properties of ATB were assessed by testing Marshall stability (MS) and splitting tensile strength (STS). The results indicated that all types of modifiers improved the ATB mixture’s MS, Marshall stability ratio (MSR), tensile strength ratio (TSR). In particular, the MSR and the TSR values increased up to 95.2% and 83.2% by using hydrate lime, respectively.
