Thermoelastic Contact of the Homogeneous Materials Coating Half-plane

Abstract


This paper investigates the thermoelastic contact of homogeneous materials coating half-plane under plane strain deformation. A rigid punch is sliding over the surface of the homogeneous materials coated half-plane with the constant velocity V. Frictional heating is generated at the interface between the punch and homogeneous materials coated half-plane. The Fourier integral transform method is employed to cast the problem to the Cauchy singular integral equations, which are then solved numerically to obtain the unknown contact pressure and the in-plane component of the surface stress. The effects of the Peclet number and friction coefficient of the coating surface are discussed and shown graphically in detail. Numerical results show that the change of the Peclet number and friction coefficient of the coating can influence the distributions of contact pressure.
