Elastic Analysis of Interaction between a Screw Dislocation and a Coated Nano-inhomogeneity Incorporating Interface Stresses

Abstract


The interaction between a screw dislocation inside a coated nano-inhomogeneity and the matrix incorporating interface stresses is investigated. The analytical expressions of the complex potentials, stress fields and the image force are obtained by means of the complex variable function method. The results indicate that the influence of the interface stress on the movement and equilibrium positions of the dislocation becomes significant when the radius of the inhomogeneity is reduced to nanometers. An additional repulsive force or attractive force is produced and the normalized image force depends on the size of the inhomogeneity.
