Improving Filament Winding Productivity by Multiple Feeds
Abstract
We Murata Machinery, Ltd. have developed a new filament winding machine (MFW) with multiple fees for carbon fiber. It performed a high productivity. In the MFW, 180 carbon fiber bundles are wound simultaneously on a liner for high pressure vessels. The MFW produces non-crimp structure with continuous carbon fiber automatically. Furthermore, the continuous CFRP pipe production system is also developing by applying MFW concept. The system is able to produce various fiber orientation angle constitutions. It is expected to produce non-crimp preforms for automotive parts which required high productivity.
