Test to Determine the Response Level of Heterogeneous Explosive by Fragment Shock Initiation
Abstract
The study of the criteria for the impact initiation of heterogeneous explosives is of great value in the field of power design and for the safe application of explosives. This paper proposes two methods for assessing the response level of a heterogeneous explosive subjected to fragment shock initiation. Experimental studies have shown that for flake explosives (difficult to process the circumferential casing), that is, the charging form of the cover interlayer, the degree of explosive reaction can be assessed by the flying speed of the cover plate. For thick explosive that can process the circumferential casing, a test method was carried out to assess the reaction degree of the explosive by considering the average area of the aluminum plate’s perforation.
