Numerical Analysis of the Effect of the Geometric Parameters of CEFP Warhead
Abstract
Cluster explosively formed penetratorô€¯ CEFPô€¯ warhead was a new EFP warhead which assemble a plurality of liners on the outer surface of spherically shaped explosive and projected high velocity explos ively formed penetrators uniformly and radially in 3D s pace . Based on the increased specific surface area of the charge which used to assemble the liners, CEFP had significantly more lethality and higher destructive effects than conventional Warheads . In order to further investigate characteris tics , the nonlinear dynamics code was applied to explore the EFP forming of different liner shapes (basically hemispherical shape).By a series of simulation, we studied the effect of the liner’s configuration parameters, namely the thickness of the liner, diameter and the radius angle on the formation parameters, such as the velocity and length/diameter ratio of penetrators.
