Abstract

An on-line auto mass measurement approach was applied to study the volatilization of the residual solvents during the drying process of the single-based propellant, double-based propellant containing triethyleneglycol dinitrate (TEGDN propellant, denoted as TEGDN-1) and TEGDN propellant containing RDX (denoted as TEGDN-2). Their drying rate curves were obtained by the on-line auto mass measurement approach. The mechanical properties of the three kinds of propellants were influenced by different residual solvent contents. The propellant strands are sufficiently plastic and elastic to be cut without being deformed when they are dried to a certain residual solvent contents.
