Identification of the Aerodynamic Coefficients of a 155mm Artillery Shell Based on Free Flight Data
Abstract
The identification of aerodynamic coefficients, from free flight measurements, remains complex and challenging for vehicles like ammunition, space probes, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. This paper presents a data-driven identification procedure of the aerodynamic coefficients of a 155mm artillery shell based on free flight data. The estimated coefficients are expressed in a table of value format (or tabular form) as a function of the Mach number. The free flight data correspond to three-axis magnetometer and trajectory radar measurements for different initial experimental conditions.
