Initial Analysis on the Influence of Heating up of Subcalibre Projectiles Penetrator to Strength Properties
Abstract
In this paper, results of the numerical analysis of the heating process of a penetrator are presented, as well as its influence on strength properties. Results of calculations show distributions of temperatures in particular elements and areas of the penetrator. Results of dynamic tests of the tungsten alloys specimens are presented (being the main structural material of the penetrator), which were carried out on the modified Hopkinson’s split bar at 300°C temperature of specimens.
