Quantitative Assessment of Imperfection Inclusion Techniques in Bistable Composites
Abstract
This work aims at quantifying the effect of geometric imperfection on cured shapes and the postbuckling behavior of bistable composites. For this purpose, the effects of two different sources of imperfections on predicted cured shapes and postbuckling behavior are assessed. Comparisons are held against Koiter’s asymptotic theory and test results. These comparisons reveal the respective effects of imperfection sources on buckling and postbuckling behavior of bistable composites.
