Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the capability of quasi-3D extended finite element method (XFEM) approach under in-plane tension, compression, and out-ofplane loadings. This study is based upon the previous works by the authors [1-3] but damage models are updated to predict longitudinal failure, matrix crack, and delamination under both of tensile and compressive loadings. The validity of proposed methodology was tested against the open-hole tension/compression (OHT/OHC) and quasi-static indentation (QSI) tests. Predicted results are compared with experiments in terms of nonlinearity, internal damage, and strength.
