Efficient Numerical Simulation Method for Lamb Wave Propagation and Its Verification

Abstract


In this work, a novel technique to describe the propagation of piezoelectrically induced ultrasonic elastic guided waves is provided. The development of a numerical simulation environment to model the wave propagation in structures is presented. A hybrid analytical-numerical method based on spectral analysis, spectral elements and Fourier integrals in frequency domain is developed to accurately simulate the effects of high-frequency wave propagation in structures of different material properties and complex geometries. The research is mainly focusing on the Lamb wave excitation by piezoelectric transducers. The numerical accuracy of the obtained results is verified by comparison against the result of other numerical methods and experimental measurements
