A fatigue damage model developed from the fracture mechanics theory is presented. The model is derived from the basic crack propagation theory and it uses a damage indicator. The proposed fatigue damage model is experimentally verified using a specially designed fatigue crack growth code to simulate the crack propagation in a compact tension (CT) specimen with sink-hole and miss-hole meaning when the propagated crack is arrested by a hole (sink-hole) and when it is not (miss-hole).
