

Properties of Al2O3-Glass Composites
Abstract
In this research, Al2O3-glass composites were prepared and investigated. To produce alumina-glass composites, alumina and glass cullet was used. Cullet in different size and amount was added to the alumina matrix, by applying two kinds of pressures. The glass components are chosen in order to the composites can be produced at lower temperatures with high strength and good electrical properties. During sintering, glass phase melts and surrounds the alumina particles. The effect of pressure and cullet size on the microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of the composites was investigated.
