Experimental Study of Corner Shaped Composite Laminates Subjected to Pure Bending
Abstract
Composite corners are generally tested under four point-bending to identify Interlaminar Strength Design values. Hereafter different lay-ups have been defined in order to characterize very different damage evolution processes. This evolution monitoring has been performed with the help of Digital Image Correlation, Acoustic Emission and Fast Video Recorder. The different processes leading to the final failure have been precisely identified. A qualitative evaluation of the effect of surface roughness of free edges on the failure load is presented.
