Composite Structures Integrity Monitoring Using Rotating Electrical Signals
Abstract
Composite Electrical impedance to evaluate composite damage is receiving growing attention from the research community as an alternative approach to ultrasounds and other non-destructive techniques. It is still in development, but recent years steady technologies advanced have increased understanding and process capability, in fact in literature there are even reports of damage detection using impedance missed by other technologies. Ultrasounds technology is very mature and robust and remain elite technique but when it comes to access recesses and complex geometries further advantages could be achieved if a smaller and relatively simpler monitoring equipment could be available. Objective of this poster is lay preliminary research to evaluate the possibility of simplifying impedance analyses using multiple circularly arranged sensors that can be interrogated with specific sequences and interpreting algorithms.
