Analysis of Online Ballistic Parameters Filtering and Identification Method

Abstract


To improve the range dispersion of range extended projectiles, a concise, effective, and low-cost technique, called One-Dimensional Trajectory Correction (ODTC), has been proposed and investigated. One of the critical issues pertinent to the development and application of ODTC refers to the online ballistic parameters filtering and identification. First of all, during the flight of projectiles, the effect of all kinds of random errors on the trajectory should be estimated online according to the flight data of range extended projectile in a segment of the trajectory measured by Radar or Global Positioning System. Secondly, the estimated effect is supposed to be quantified and represented by some characteristic parameters of projectiles. By using these parameters, the final range of projectiles can be predicted quickly and accurately, providing a reasonable basis for implementing longitudinal course correction. In this article, the online ballistic parameters filtering and identification method is to be discussed. In the process, some remarkable problems and its influence in practical engineering are also analyzed. The results are expected to be useful for further research.
