Numerical Simulation of Interior Ballistic Performance of Modular Charge by Two Models
Abstract
In order to get the interior ballistic performance of modular charge, two models are established in this paper. A computer program is designed to solve partial differential equations in model A, an interior ballistic model based on the two-phase flow theory. In this process, the start-up pressure of projectile is measured by a large caliber artillery firing experiment. For model B, the finite element model of barrel and projectile is established by software Hypermesh and the motion resistance value is obtained using simulation software Abaqus with the fluid-solid coupling method. Comparing the simulation results with experimental data, although model B takes more time to complete the computational work, but with more accurate moving boundary conditions being used, it can improve the computational accuracy obviously.
