Abstract

The paper presents results of numerical modeling of interaction between projectile and 9 mm pistol barrel. During the investigations, numerical results in quasi-static and dynamic conditions were obtained. Simulations in the first case allowed for validation of the model using the direct comparison of the theoretical results with resistant force courses obtained applying the experimental stand. The mechanical properties of projectile jacket were described based on the bilinear and Johnson – Cook model. For the dynamic case considerable differences between obtained results and results provided by simplified relationships proposed by Serebryakov were observed (over one order of magnitude). These discrepancies can be an effect of neglecting engraving process in the simplified approach. Applied approach to modeling the interaction between the bullet and the barrel, allows for implementation of obtained results in modeling of interior ballistics phenomena.
