Application of 5-Aminotetrazole In GAP/AN Based Propellant
Abstract
The desire for the minimum signature property, e.g. less smoke or flame of gas plume, has become stronger in the solid rocket propellant development. 5-aminotetrazole(5-AT) and GAP/AN-based propellant were chosen as the filler component the based formulation respectively to obtain a novel minimum signature propellant. The propellant containing 5- aminotetrazole(5-AT) was prepared by flow casting technology to explore effect of 5-AT on propellants. Mechanical properties of propellant containing 5-AT were characterized by tensile test, burning rates were measured by the method of target lines. Results show that, the breaking elongation of propellant containing 5-AT increases ,but the tensile strength decreases by 57.7%. Compared with GAP/AN based propellant, the burning rate pressure exponent for propellant significantly decreases by 0.2 when the content of 5-AT is 10%, while burning rate increases by 15.3% at pressure of 9MPa.
