Flight Mission Sequence Optimizer for Vulcano

Abstract

The Vulcano Guided ammunition family can engage short, medium and long range targets, using the canards to extend the ballistic range and guide precisely on the target. The smartness of the ammunition allows to engage the same target following different paths, characterized by different Quadrant Elevation of the gun and other mission dependent parameters. An optimal solution is defined as the solution, among the possible, with the highest accuracy and flight robustness in respect of scenario unknowns. The optimizer of the FMS is software that identifies automatically the best firing solution for the Vulcano ammunition also in presence of scenario constraints (i.e., aerial corridors, far crest near crest).
